Sky journalist expects news soon on Chelsea's attempt to sign £52m star

'I would not be surprised': Sky journalist expects a major development soon on Chelsea's attempts to sign £52m star

Kaveh Solhekol expects there could be “major developments” soon regarding Chelsea’s interest in signing Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

Sky Sports journalist Solhekol has explained that transfer business around Stamford Bridge may begin to quicken as the Romelu Lukaku saga reaches its conclusion. Blues striker Lukaku has reportedly agreed to re-sign for Inter Milan this summer on loan.

It sounds like Thomas Tuchel’s side will now be freed up to chase down their own transfer targets.

Sevilla centre-back Kounde, who’s been linked with a £52million move to either Chelsea or Barcelona this summer, is a name regularly spoken about in the transfer rumour mill.

Solhekol has given a potentially exciting update to Chelsea fans by predicting there could be some movement over Kounde’s future shortly.

“Another centre-back Chelsea are very interested in is Jules Kounde at Sevilla, They’ve been trying to sign him for a very, very long time. I would not be surprised if there were major developments on that front,” he said.

“Other players they’re looking at are Richarlison, Raphinha… Now that Lukaku is sorted out, I think expect to see a lot of deals being done at Chelsea over the next few weeks.”

Chelsea’s interest in Kounde

It’s been a frustrating couple of weeks for Blues supporters that are watching so many of their close rivals spend well in the transfer market.

However, let’s hope that good things come to those who wait.

Kounde, 23, is a ball-playing centre-back that looks an ideal target for Chelsea to sign this summer.

The pre-season schedule is creeping up quickly, so it would be extremely frustrating for manager Thomas Tuchel if he begins that without any new faces. It’s glaringly obvious he needs some new defensive bodies in through the building, too.

It’s previously been claimed Chelsea are confident of winning the race this summer to sign Kounde.
