West Ham boss David Moyes is convinced that RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol will move to the Premier League at some stage.

Gvardiol, 20, is a young defender that plays his club football in Germany with Leipzig.

The Croatia international is now announcing himself to the world stage by catching the eye at the World Cup in Qatar, too.

Chelsea are among the clubs to be linked recently with Gvardiol. 90min claims that Chelsea are optimistic that they’ll be able to strike a deal to sign the ball-playing centre-back.

He was reportedly valued at £75million back in the summer, but will these World Cup masterclasses bump up his valuation even higher?

Moyes convinced Gvardiol will move to the Premier League

Moyes has explained that he’s a massive admirer of Gvardiol after watching him perform in Qatar.

He’s pretty certain that the agrressive defender will have a future in the Premier League.

“[Croatia] have begun a process of transitioning to a younger generation and need to find more talents with the quality of the outstanding Josko Gvardiol,” Moyes wrote for The Times.

“I picked out Gvardiol, 20, as one of the talents to watch at this tournament and he really is going to be a super player. He was Croatia’s left back at Euro 2020 but is probably going to play most of his career at left centre back, where we’re seeing him here. He came through the Red Bull system and they excel at picking out new talents from eastern Europe. I’ll be amazed if he doesn’t come to the Premier League in the next couple of years.”

Chelsea splashed out £70million (BBC) to sign 21-year-old centre-back Wesley Fofana in the summer, who does have a lot of quality to show supporters when he’s fully fit again.

However, the Blues need to be all over a deal for Gvardiol if they can.

The fact he’s performing on the World Cup stage so fantastically as a 20-year-old shows a lot about his quality and potential.

His attributes look tailor-made for the physicality and speed of the Premier League, so Moyes is probably bang on the money with his assessment.
