‘I’m being told’: Journalist now claims £73m player could agree transfer soon, Chelsea reportedly wanted him

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, who was linked with a move to Chelsea during the summer, could leave Old Trafford before the new year.

That is according to 90min journalist Graeme Bailey.

Speaking on Talking Transfers, Bailey told listeners not to be surprised if a deal for Jadon Sancho to join another club was struck in December, with the 23-year-old potentially linking up with them before the transfer window opens.

Sancho is not currently training with United’s first team after falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.

Last month, the Daily Mail claimed that Chelsea considered signing the Englishman in the previous transfer window before eventually moving for Cole Palmer.

With Sancho and Ten Hag yet to reconcile, it looks like the former could be heading for the exit door.

On his future, Bailey said: “Don’t be surprised, I’m being told, don’t be surprised if a deal is agreed in December for him and then he can go and train at his new club, even before Christmas, even before it gets to the new year.

“There’s no need for him to be kicking his heels in Manchester with the reserves for too much longer. A deal could be agreed before then.”

Will Chelsea consider Jadon Sancho again?

Right now, it seems unlikely. Their priority heading into the January transfer window appears to be a new centre-forward.

According to TEAMtalk, the Blues have already identified Brentford’s Ivan Toney as a target for when the market reopens.

Ultimately, landing him or another striker is likely to be at the top of their to-do list instead of signing someone like Sancho, who cost United £73m when he joined from Borussia Dortmund back in 2021.

Chelsea have already made quite a few changes out wide recently, bringing in the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke. They are yet to play a full season at Stamford Bridge, so it would be a surprise if the Blues were already thinking about bringing in a new wide man.
