Hull City manager Liam Rosenior reveals he is interested in holding on to three Chelsea players beyond the New Year.

Speaking to Hull Live, Rosenior admitted that Harvey Vale, Xavier Simons and Nathan Baxter are all in his plans for the remainder of the season.

Thomas Tuchel allowed Vale and Simons to join the Tigers in the summer on loan, in the hope the teenager pair could gain some valuable first-team experience in the Championship battle pit.

Upon moving to Yorkshire, the youthful duo linked up with Baxter, who’s loan contract had been extended by another campaign.

The goalkeeper played 18 times for Hull in 2021/22, earning him another spell in between the sticks for the relegation fighters.

Baxter has made 12 appearances for far this term, but his fellow Chelsea loanees have not been nearly as involved.

Xavier Simons and Harvey Vale overlooked at Hull

Vale and Simons have only accumulated two matches between them since leaving Cobham, with the latter up to just eight minutes at his new club.

Former Hull coach Shota Arveladze handed the two their second division debuts, yet failed to use them again before receiving the sack in September.

They are yet to be picked by Rosenior; however, the new boss has reassured them that their time will come soon.

“Yep, they’re right in my thoughts. They travelled with us (to Watford) and were unfortunate not to be on the bench,” he said whilst discussing Vale and Simons’ status at the MKM Stadium.

“They’ve both made an excellent impression on me. Harvey’s got some outstanding abilities and is a really good athlete, Xavi’s got everything in a midfield player that I like and he’s going to be a great player in the long-term.”

Simons and Vale require action

As much as Rosenior has been impressed by the couple, it will mean little if they do not gain further experience in senior football.

Nor will his words have value if they do not remain at Hull beyond January.

The winter window is fast approaching, and Chelsea may well make a decision on the futures of Vale, Simon and Baxter.

Although, Rosenior once again prompted the fact he is eager to strike a deal with the Blues.

“I’ve had a conversation with Chelsea about those two and Nathan, as well, and we’ve decided that come the last week in December, first week in January we’ll have another conversation on that.”
