Thomas Tuchel has claimed Chelsea still need to make more signings if they are to compete next season.
The Blues have already announced the signings of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, with the pair potentially making their debut in tonight’s fixture against Charlotte.
However, the club remain linked with a host of defensive options, as they prepare for life without Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and potentially Cesar Azpilicueta.

Tuchel claimed that the club need to continue to act in the market just to compete for third again, before they contemplate looking to catch runaway pair Manchester City and Liverpool.
In a clip from Football Daily’s Twitter, he said: “I think we need a couple more players in to improve the squad.
“We have been third last season. We cannot discuss endlessly about the reasons, but there was a gap between us and Manchester City and Liverpool and in general if you want to keep your position, if you want to fight for the same positon you need to improve, you can never stand still.
Tuchel states Chelsea need more signings
“If you stand still, other teams will overtake you so given the situation that we even lost players, for me its common sense that we need to bring new quality to the team to maintain our level.”
The Blues are strongly linked to making Jules Kounde their third signing of the summer, with reports even suggesting that they’ve already agreed a deal with Sevilla for the Frenchman.

Defensive reinforcements may well not end with just one more signing, with Tuchel reportedly keen on a reunion with PSG’s Presnel Kimpembe.
Despite the obvious quality and experience at the top these potential signings provide, the club should not forget about the potential in Levi Colwill, who has returned from his loan with Huddersfield Town.
It has been speculated the 19-year-old may leave if they are to sign multiple defenders this summer, so the Blues should be cautious that they don’t scare off another promising prospect.
