One football agent thinks Brentford striker Ivan Toney is destined to leave the west London club amid links to Chelsea.

According to LondonWorld, Chelsea are currently leading the race to sign Ivan Toney.

On the 27-year-old, one agent told The Athletic: “It’s destined to happen when he gets back (after his ban) and (the deal) can get sorted whilst he’s out. Good for him and maybe even Brentford too.”

Toney has not been able to feature for Brentford this season because of the ban he is currently serving, but the forward was in fantastic form for the Bees last term.

In total, he scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League outings to help his side finish in the top half of the table.

Ivan Toney likely to leave

It would be a shock if Brentford were able to hold on to Toney. Given how he has performed for them since their promotion to the top flight, big clubs, like Chelsea, will be after him.

The Blues specifically look like they could really do with the England international’s arrival.

Simply put, they do not score enough goals, registering just four in as many league games this season.

Toney, who has been described as “amazing” by his manager Thomas Frank, should be able to fix that.

Nothing is a guarantee, but Toney’s track record in the Premier League, though the sample size is not the largest, suggests a move to Chelsea may just work out.

Until then, Mauricio Pochettino is going to have to rely on the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling to score his side goals and win them games. Both men were on the scoresheet in Chelsea’s only Premier League victory so far this season, which was a 3-0 win against Luton Town.
