The future of Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher appears to be a big talking point in the game at the minute.

Connor Gallagher‘s contract at Chelsea expires in 2025, throwing his future into doubt.

One senior figure at one of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals has now told ESPN that it is not a secret that the Blues would sell the 23-year-old if they received a £50m bid for him.

At this point, it really would not be a surprise if a club made that kind of offer for Gallagher.

The midfielder is an England international who knows the Premier League well and is performing exceptionally in it this season.

He has made 45 tackles, leaving him just outside the top five players for that category (FBref).

Will clubs be confident about signing Conor Gallagher?

Until his contract situation is sorted, then yes. The whole Premier League saw how Chelsea were prepared to let go of Mason Mount, a key player for them, after he had entered the final year of his deal.

Former Blues player Jason Cundy now fears a repeat of that with Gallagher.

Hopefully it does not come down to that. Again, the Three Lions Star has been really good for Chelsea this season. It would be a bit of a blow for Mauricio Pochettino to lose him, especially with all of the injuries his side have picked up.

But after spending so much money in the last transfer window and with his contract running down, the bosses at Stamford Bridge obviously sense an opportunity here.

They can make back a lot of money from a player who they are at risk of losing for nothing in the summer of 2025. From their perspective, it is probably a no-brainer. From Pochettino’s, with the Argentine having to worry about what happens on the pitch, not so much.
