Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that there is still a chance for Chelsea to sign Malo Gusto this month.
The Blues have honed in on the teenager as a potential signing in the right-back position, one that has been massively needed this season.
Reece James’ injury problems have often left them coming up short in the role, with them unable to find a player who can replace what he brings to the side.

Graham Potter has tried a wide variety of options in an attempt to fill the void left by the England international.
He has utilised Cesar Azpilicueta, Trevor Chalobah and even Raheem Sterling at times, all to no avail.
However, Gusto appears to hold a lot of similar characteristics to James. The youngster described himself as a ‘powerful attacking player’, and has developed himself as a regular for Ligue 1 side Lyon.
Chelsea could still sign Gusto
While the Blues have been unsuccessful in their attempts so far, Jacobs has claimed they are not completely out of the fight to sign Gusto this month.
He said: “Lyon have been pretty consistent here. They really don’t want to let him go. Chelsea are going to have to double their original offer to stand a chance. But JMA statements aren’t always what they seem, so still hope.”

This comes after the French club made a statement saying they were planning on keeping the full-back for the remainder of the season.
Chelsea are looking at the signing as their way of putting the final touches on what has been a sensational January transfer window.
They have given particular attention to strengthening the attack. The signings of Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix and Noni Madueke are sure to bring excitement back to Stamford Bridge, after a toothless campaign so far in front of goal.
