Chelsea reportedly want to sign Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram this month, who may actually be attainable.

Thuram, 25, is a quick striker that’s impressed in the Bundesliga during the last few years.

The France international is enjoying a particularly good campaign right now, scoring 13 goals in 17 games across all competitions this term.

If you consider Raheem Sterling is Chelsea’s top scorer this season with six goals, you can fully understand why the Blues are linked in the transfer market with a centre-forward. A long-term injury that Armando Broja has suffered hasn’t helped, too.

Chelsea interested in Marcus Thuram

Journalist Simon Phillips has reported that Graham Potter’s side are stepping up interest to try sign Thuram.

It is explained that the 25-year-old may be within reach for clubs to sign this month, with Chelsea presented to pounce on an opportunity to sign him for a “very low fee”.

When discussing Marcus Thuram, Simon Phillips told GiveMeSport: “Chelsea really like Thuram and are stepping up their interest in him.

“He’s made his way up towards the top of the forward shortlist for this window, and he presents an opportunity for Chelsea to land a top forward for a very low fee, with his contract up in the summer. I’ve been told he is attainable this month.”

Described as “phenomenal” by Denis Zakaria a few years ago, Thuram is a really intriguing target for Chelsea.

The attacker, who can also slot in as a winger, could be a really good addition to the Premier League.

However, the curse of the striker position at Stamford Bridge has been real for many years now, so who’s going to be brave enough to come and try break that next.
