Xabi Alonso will be licking his lips after hearing news that a Chelsea target and former player of his can leave Real Madrid this summer.

Jose Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid has sent shockwaves through European football, especially following Florentino Perez’s dramatic presidential election campaign.

However, bruised by his abrupt Madrid exit, Xabi Alonso has quickly pivoted, agreeing to take over at Chelsea, where he is eager to rebuild his reputation.

This dramatic managerial merry-go-round has intensified the transfer links between Stamford Bridge and the Santiago Bernabeu. Chelsea are reportedly exploring potential swap deals involving Enzo Fernandez, which could see some Madrid stars head to West London.

Alonso is eager to reunite with Arda Guler, who thrived under his brief tenure in Spain, while disgruntled French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has also been linked.

Jose Mourinho doesn’t want Eduardo Camavinga at Real Madrid

According to journalist Ramon Alvarez (as per The Madrid Zone), Jose Mourinho has informed Real Madrid that he does not want Eduardo Camavinga in his squad next season.

The players he listed are as follows: • Eduardo Camavinga • Rodrygo Goes • Franco Mastantuono • Fran Garcia • Raul Asencio • Dani Ceballos.

One thing that could benefit Chelsea is the fact that Alonso can leverage his Real Madrid connections to find unwanted players a new home. Especially when it comes to battling against some of Europe’s biggest clubs who can offer Champions League football next season.

Xabi Alonso already loves Eduardo Camavinga’s versatility

It’s safe to say that Eduardo Camavinga has already impressed Xabi Alonso during his Real Madrid days, as the new Chelsea boss loved the way he changed positions in a 4–1 win over Levante in September.

“You saw that he started one play as a 6 and then finished it as a 10, almost reaching our last line of offense. He’s a very dynamic player with a very good skill set.

“So I am very happy about having this because this is the first time I’ve worked with him since I’ve arrived at the club because he hasn’t been available.

“He will enter our rotation little by little just like Jude, who is also back and will be very important.”
