Chelsea are reportedly prepared to pay twice as much as rivals buyers Barcelona on the wages of Sevilla star Jules Kounde.
The transfer speculation in recent days has intensified involving Kounde’s potential transfer to Stamford Bridge.
It was reported a couple of days ago the Blues were set to secure a deal to sign the 23-year-old defender from Sevilla.
However, Fabrizio Romano recently explained Barcelona were still in talks about the centre-back despite Chelsea’s £55million offer.
The latest twist in the tale is that Kounde has been omitted from Sevilla’s latest pre-season squad, so that has to signify positive news for interested clubs.
According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero on Twitter, Chelsea have a crucial advantage over rivals Barcelona.
Apparently, Thomas Tuchel’s side are willing to pay Kounde double the amount that Barca can offer on wages.

Surely, this latest information is enough to help Chelsea get this deal over the line.
However, the way Barcelona have spent in this summer transfer window means no Blues supporter will relax until Kounde is stood holding a Chelsea shirt in an official announcement.
Aged 23, Kounde has the right profile of someone the club should feel confident backing financially and putting on a big wage.
The France international would be a great option as a centre-half in the back three, combining his pace, strength and quality with the ball at his feet. He’s an alternative option to cover for Reece James as a right wing-back, too.
