Chelsea’s Thiago Silva will reportedly soon make a decision on his future.

As it stands, the 38-year-old’s contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of the season.

The veteran defender, who’s now in his third campaign as a Blues player, continues to be one of the team’s outstanding performers despite the fact that he’s well into his late-thirties.

Thiago Silva decision on future

Well-respected journalist Simon Phillips claims that the Brazilian centre-back will “soon” decide his next move.

It is understood Silva is open to the idea of another year in West London because he loves playing for Chelsea, but there are a lot of factors to consider.

Incidentally, the Blues are keen to keep him.

“He is yet to decide, but the decision will be made soon,” Phillips told GIVEMESPORT:

“He’s certainly open to staying and Chelsea are pretty keen to keep him for another season.

“But there’s lots to consider here for all parties. Silva is absolutely loving his time at Chelsea.”

Still one of the very best

Described as “incredible” earlier this month by Graham Potter, Silva continues to prove to people that age is just a number.

Some Chelsea fans will pray this timeless defender can stay in the Blues XI forever, but eventually there will be a decline.

If he still feels good in his own body, it seems a no-brainer to give the South American yet another one-year contract extension to keep him at the club until the summer of 2024.

The fact that he’s in contention to play for Brazil at this winter World Cup just highlights how professional he is and what great shape he’s in.

Ultimately, Silva deserves to decide when he feels he’s had enough.

For Chelsea supporters, they’ll hope this warrior defender has a bit left in the tank. It’s remarkable that he’s still outclassing, outthinking and outperforming Premier League attacks on a weekly basis.
