Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Cesar Azpilicueta from Chelsea this summer.

Cesar Azpilicueta, who’s been a Chelsea player for over a decade now, is a true fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.

However, the £150,000-a-week (Salary Sport) defender is no longer one of the first names on the team sheet.

The 33-year-old player has been in and out of the starting team this season, making 26 appearances across all competitions.

Now, the experienced star is linked with a move away at the end of the season. As it stands, his current Chelsea deal runs until 2024.

Journalist Simon Phillips has shared that Azpilicueta is attracting several bits of interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Writing in his Substack, Phillips claimed: “I’m told Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Manchester United are three of the clubs interested in Azpilicueta.”

Also, he added that Man United are searching to find some experienced players to cover in defence at Old Trafford.

However, sources do expect the Chelsea skipper to return to homeland Spain, which has been his desire for a while.

The Telegraph reported a couple of months ago that Azpilicueta is one of the players Chelsea are prepared to let go this summer.

In our view, Azpilicueta’s exit this summer is a no-brainer for all parties.

We suggest that the defender, who can play centre-back or full-back, should move overseas to a different league. It definitely feels like he’s quite exposed this season when he features in the Premier League.

If he is to go at the end of the season, let’s hope he gets a proper send off from Chelsea because he’s given so much to the club.
