Napoli have now spoken directly with Chelsea star Christian Pulisic, according to reports.
Christian Pulisic, 24, has recently held conversations with Italian champions Napoli about a potential move.
Well-respected journalist Simon Phillips reports on his Substack this week that Serie A club Napoli have “held initial talks” with Pulisic.
It is understood that the Chelsea winger is prepared to have several discussions with all interested teams this summer.
Apparently, Napoli aren’t the only club that want to sign the United States international.
It sounds like a switch to Naples is on the cards, though.
Pulisic, who earns £150,000-a-week, is now widely tipped to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer.
Sky Italy reports this week that Pulisic should be leaving Chelsea in the summer transfer window amid interest from AC Milan.
Despite completely going off the boil at Chelsea in the past year, Italian teams certainly still seem keen on his individual ability.
Pulisic was dubbed by many Chelsea fans as their heir to Eden Hazard’s throne at Chelsea, but he’s never really lived up to expectation since joining back in 2019.
The American winger has a lot of great attributes with his pace, dribbling and work rate. But he just doesn’t put together enough consistent spells in a Chelsea shirt.
He’s scored just 26 goals in 145 Blues appearances in total, which is a tally that a player of his quality should be disappointed with.
Pulisic needs to go somewhere next where he’s a guaranteed starter in the line-up. Therefore, we would urge caution to him before deciding to join Napoli, who have some explosive wingers in their squad right now.
