Chelsea are reportedly sensing their may be an opportunity for them to sign a winger they’ve been linked with throughout this summer transfer window.
Chelsea have been very busy recently adding new recruits to the squad. In terms of attacking reinforcements so far this summer, Marc Guiu and Omari Kellyman are youngsters that may provide different options going forward.
It’s going to be interesting to see how new Blues head coach Enzo Maresca designs his attack next season. In fairness, Maresca’s Leicester City side scored 89 goals in 46 games in the Championship last season while playing some fluent and attacking football.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, 25, is a centre-forward linked with a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge. Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported via X that Chelsea are in talks with Napoli about Osimhen, but they’re not willing to pay the striker’s release clause.

Chelsea sense opportunity to get Nico Williams
Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed via Substack on Wednesday that Chelsea’s interest in Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams is still alive.
He’s explained that the Blues are still working on trying to bring in one more winger before the summer transfer window shuts. Apparently, they’re in the race for 22-year-old attacking sensation Williams.
Phillips details that Williams’ potential transfer to Barcelona has stalled, so Chelsea are sensing an opportunity to move in and swoop for the Bilbao star. However, he does add that a deal to sign the Spain international is still unlikely at this moment in time because the financial conditions will need to be lowered.
Phillips said via his Substack: “We have also just been told this morning that Chelsea ‘are still there’ for Nico Williams… Chelsea are now sensing an opportunity to move in. This is one to watch.”
Nico Williams would be extraordinary addition
Williams, who starred in Spain winning Euro 2024 this summer, is certainly a superstar in the making. For any club that signs him, they’ll be investing in a left-winger with incredible pace, trickery, work rate and directness.
The dazzling wide man scored eight goals and made 19 assists last season in 37 matches for Bilbao, so he’d no doubt bring extra creativity to Chelsea’s attacking options.
It’s been reported by TEAMtalk that Williams’ release clause is worth £49m in his Bilbao contract.
