A group of Chelsea supporters on social media couldn’t work out why Kenedy’s contract had been extended by another year.

It was confirmed yesterday the Brazilian had earned a 12-month extension, despite being loaned out to Flamengo for the season.

Kenedy is yet to rack up 30 games for the Blues in over half a decade at the club.

His last Chelsea appearance arrived in January 2018 against Norwich City in an FA Cup third-round replay.

Since then, the 25-year-old has played for Newcastle United, Getafe, Granada, with Flamengo the latest to host his presence.

But still the Blues continue to award him a fresh deal, to the utter dismay of most Blues fans?

They believed Kenedy should be released from his shackles completely and be sold, rather than stringing out his limp Chelsea career.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:

Ken-eeded a transfer

Few believed that Kenedy was going to infringe on Thomas Tuchel’s squad this campaign.

Many, including us, felt a move away from Stamford Bridge was going to be the only viable option this summer.

He did enjoy a prosperous term with Granada in 2020/21, playing 44 times, scoring eight goals and providing six assists across all competitions.

However, with opportunities already scarce back at Chelsea due to the enormity of returning loan players for pre-season, Kenedy is wise to seek footballing refuge with Flamengo.
