Chelsea have made their mind up on Kendry Paez after another disappointing loan.

Kendry Paez’s transition to European football didn’t go down well, leading Chelsea to alter his development plan. After arriving at Stamford Bridge following his 18th birthday, the Ecuadorian prodigy was immediately loaned to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg. However, Paez struggled to find consistency and was criticised for his attitude, prompting Chelsea to prematurely cut the season-long loan short.

Seeking to revive his confidence in a more familiar environment, Chelsea sanctioned a one-year loan move to South American giants River Plate. But despite a solid international showing with Ecuador at the 2026 World Cup, his club struggles have persisted.

And now it brings us to another loan for the attacker.

Who will be a bigger success – Enzo Maresca or Xabi Alonso? 🤔

City have confirmed Maresca will replace Guardiola.

Kendry Paez offered to Atletico Mineiro

According to RTI Esporte, Chelsea are expected to find Kendry Paez another club after deciding he is not yet ready to become part of the first-team squad for the 2026/27 season.

Paez’s representatives have offered the 19-year-old to Atletico Mineiro over the past few days.

This comes a week after Paez was in talks with KV Mechelen about potentially joining them ahead of the new season, which would provide Champions League football.

The three Chelsea players to have played for Atletico Mineiro

Diego Costa enjoyed a brief but highly successful stint at Atletico Mineiro in 2021. Joining the club later in his career, he formed a formidable partnership with Hulk, scoring four goals in fifteen appearances.

With ongoing rumors linking Chelsea’s struggling loanee Kendry Paez to a potential rescue move to Brazil, Costa’s path serves as a notable blueprint.

Aside from Costa, other shared names between Stamford Bridge and Mineiro include cult-hero right-back Juliano Belletti, who starred on loan there in 1999, and midfielder Nathan, who moved permanently in 2020.
