Manchester City are now in “concrete talks” to sign Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic this summer, according to reports.

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Premier League champions Manchester City are in discussions to sign Mateo Kovacic.

It is understood there’s now been “positive discussions” between Man City and the 29-year-old’s camp regarding personal terms.

Now, more talks will take place and Chelsea are prepared to sell their Croatian midfielder during the summer transfer window.

“Manchester City have opened concrete talks to sign Mateo Kovacic in the summer. Positive discussions took place with player’s camp in the last few days over personal terms,” Romano wrote on Twitter.

“Chelsea open to selling Kovacic as part of midfield revolution. Talks will continue soon.”

It feels like Chelsea may lose Kovacic in the upcoming transfer window as speculation around his future hots up.

We heard from journalist Rudy Galetti on GiveMeSport earlier this week that Kovacic has “very likely” played his last ever game for Chelsea.

The ball-playing central midfielder has achieved some big thing during 221 Blues appearances, including a Champions League triumph and a club Player of the Year award.

However, could he be playing for England’s top club side next season?

Kovacic, who’s been described as the most skilful player at Chelsea by Kai Havertz, has bucket loads of technical qualities.

He doesn’t score enough goals from midfield for someone with his ability, but the ball is stuck to his boot like a magnet at times when he glides through the centre of the park.

We expect him to thrive in a dominant Man City line-up if he ends up at the Etihad Stadium next season.
