Leeds United have just been named as a potential suitor for a Chelsea-owned player ahead of the summer transfer window.
The immediate focus for everyone at Chelsea is finishing the 2024/25 season strongly. If they can secure Champions League qualification and win the Conference League, it’ll be a successful debut campaign for Enzo Maresca as the Blues manager.
As for Leeds, their goal of gaining promotion from the Championship is quite simple. It looks like the race for automatic promotion will go down to the wire, with seven games left to stay in the top two spots. The alternative is the dreaded play-offs.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 39 | 26 | 7 | 6 | 56 | 29 | 27 | 83 | |
| 2 | 39 | 23 | 12 | 4 | 78 | 27 | 51 | 81 | |
| 3 | 39 | 22 | 15 | 2 | 53 | 11 | 42 | 81 |
Former Chelsea player Ethan Ampadu is a key player for Leeds as they try to get back to the Premier League.
If the Yorkshire club are promoted, it’s been claimed they could look at another potential transfer raid on Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s Djordje Petrovic could be an option for Leeds United
Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, who’s currently enjoying a brilliant loan spell with Strasbourg in France, could have quite an interesting summer.
It’s been claimed that Petrovic will get the chance at Chelsea to prove his qualities during pre-season. Based off his form with Strasbourg, we’re quietly confident that the 25-year-old gloveman can push for a starting position next year with the Blues.
However, promotion chasers Leeds are now monitoring the keeper’s situation.
TEAMtalk claims that Petrovic could be an option for Leeds in the summer window.
It is explained that the shot-stopper will get his opportunity this summer to prove he can be Chelsea’s No 1, but he could become available on the market if he loses that battle.
The report says that Leeds are on alert to Petrovic’s situation, although they’re aware he stands a chance of staying in West London.
It’s pretty clear that Chelsea fans rate Petrovic and believe he should be starting in between the sticks for them next season. He certainly deserves that opportunity because both Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensenhave flopped for the Blues under Maresca.

Djordje Petrovic would solve biggest Leeds problelm
Without a doubt, Petrovic is a quality goalkeeper who’s only getting better. He’s been a key player for a Strasbourg side sitting sixth in Ligue 1 right now.
Described as “fantastic” by Mauricio Pochettino in 2024 (Chelsea’s official website), Petrovic is only growing in stature.
From a Leeds perspective, the Chelsea gloveman would solve their biggest problem because Illan Meslier has been extremely shaky in net for them.
Meslier, 25, goes from the sublime to the horrendous in any single match. His lack of consistency would be a major issue if Leeds return to the top division, so they would need to find an upgrade in that position.
| Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets | Error led to goal | Pass accuracy |
| 39 | 27 | 21 | 3 | 76.9% |
Without a doubt, Petrovic would be a significant upgrade on Meslier. Our hope is that he’s starting for Chelsea not Leeds next season, though.
