Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Emi Martinez might fall into the arms of Chelsea depending what happens in the warm weather transfer window.
Speaking on the House of Champions channel, Romano proposed the possible scenario of the Aston Villa goalkeeper heading to Stamford Bridge.
Martinez may well be eyeing up a stellar move in the next few months, following his brilliant and barmy World Cup campaign.
He was a huge reason behind Argentina’s run to the final and eventual victory over France on Sunday.

Martinez’s magic at the World Cup
The Villa ‘keeper became the South American hero in the quarter-final by saving two penalties in the shoot-out against the Netherlands.
His sorcery from the spot was required again against the French, as he denied Kingsley Coman and clearly got into the head of Aurelian Tchouameni.
Before the Real Madrid midfielder stepped up from 12-yards, Martinez held onto the ball and then threw it away, with the mind games well underway.
Argentina’s number one triumphed in the battle of the wits, with Tchouameni slicing his shot wide.
Lionel Messi is now indebted to his gloved compatriot for helping him confirm footballing immortality.

Martinez will return to his homeland as a king, but also heralded at Villa Park, where he will be playing again once the party in Buenos Aires finally finishes.
However, he might not be there long if a surge of deals for goalies sweeps the summer market.
“Let’s see in the summer if the domino effect will start with the goalkeepers. Maybe with Chelsea or maybe with Man United. Emi Martinez could be with one of them,” said Romano.
Could Emi Martinez be en route to Chelsea?
Chelsea could well be involved in the chain of events that Martinez may find himself in.
Graham Potter is reportedly considering replacing Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga, with the pair failing to impress himself or Todd Boehly yet.

Jordan Pickford has been mentioned as a potential option, who’s future could be determined if Everton drop further into the relegation battle.
If Mendy or Kepa departs South West London, then a space in the squad will open up for Martinez or Pickford to fill.
