Deadline Day is upon us and over at Chelsea, there is plenty going on but unfortunately for Chelsea fans, it looks as if the Blues will only be selling players on the final day of the window.
The search for a new midfielder feels as good as over, despite links with Douglas Luiz – who has since joined Aston Villa – and Liverpool’s Curtis Jones. A new defender also looks to have hit a barrier.
Instead of signing Jeremy Jacquet, Liverpool are set to land the French defender in a deal that will become a formality in the summer. Instead, Chelsea are set to recall Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg.
If you could sign any player before the transfer window closes, who would it be? ✍️
We want to hear your realistic names below!
So, incomings are unlikely but sales are expected. Axel Disasi, David Datro Fofana and other Chelsea players look set to leave the club, while a forgotten Chelsea midfielder could also leave later today.
Jimi Tauriainen could finally leave Chelsea on Deadline Day
Many will have forgotten Jimi Tauriainen, who remains on the books at Chelsea. The 21-year-old joined Chelsea at just 15 from HJK Helsinki back in 2021, but has only managed two senior appearances.

One of those came in the 3-2 FA Cup defeat to Leeds in 2023-24, and then in the Premier League in May 2024. But since then, Tauriainen has had to contend with appearing sparsely for the club’s Under-21 side.
He might have a contract at Chelsea until the summer of 2027, but according to BBC Sport reporter Nizaar Kinsella, he could leave before deadline day finishes. It is unclear who could sign Tauriainen.
Kinsella reported on X on Sunday evening, confirming that the Finland U21 international could leave the club: “Chelsea midfielder Jimi Tauriainen could still leave before the transfer deadline tomorrow.”
Which other exits can Chelsea fans expect on deadline day?
As aforementioned, Axel Disasi’s future remains in the balance after interest from West Ham and a couple of Serie A big hitters. Despite being reintroduced to the senior side by Rosenior, he is expected to go.
Does Tyrique George have a future at Chelsea? It feels unlikely…
Everton loan incoming
Then there is Aaron Anselmino, who after being recalled from his loan at Dortmund, the Argentine is set to replace Sarr at Strasbourg. David Datro Fofana is a target for Roberto Mancini at Qatari side Al Sadd.
Tyrique George is probably the most high-profile exit expected on the final day of the January window, with a loan move to Everton incoming. The Toffees will have the option to make a deal permanent.
