Todd Boehly reportedly loves Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic as a player, which is why plans to give him a new contract come as no surprise.

Kovacic, 28, is a Blues star that continues to shine on the pitch whenever he plays.

The central midfielder recently helped change the game when he came off the bench against Manchester United in the Premier League. Also, he was seriously impressive during Tuesday night’s victory away to Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League group stages.

TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor said earlier this week he thinks Chelsea’s ace does go under the radar.

Boehly loves Kovacic

Well-respected journalist Simon Phillips reports that Chelsea co-owner Boehly adores Chelsea’s talented midfielder. He’s become a big favourite under Blues head coach Graham Potter, too.

It’s claimed that discussions over a new deal at Stamford Bridge are planned to take place with the Croatia international after the World Cup.

Phillips has told GIVEMESPORT: “How far along are Kovacic’s new contract talks? They haven’t started yet.

“Chelsea plan to start them after the World Cup. They love him, Graham Potter loves him and Todd Boehly loves him.”

Kovacic is currently at an age perceived by many as the prime years of your career, so it’s no surprise to see the Croatian impressing this season.

He’s shown throughout his Blues career he can mix it with the very best when he’s on top form. It’s been great to see him find a bit more consistency, though.

It’s a no-brainer to give him a fresh contract that extends beyond a current contract that expires in 2024.

Chelsea’s young batch of midfielders like Conor Gallagher and Carney Chukwuemeka must love playing and training alongside him.
