‘Madness’, 'Lost the plot’: Some Chelsea fans react after Romano's latest transfer update
Chelsea have reportedly had a bid for Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku turned down – and some Blues fans on Twitter have ripped into the club for making the move.
Fabrizio Romano claims on Twitter that Chelsea offered the Italian club €100million (£85million) for Lukaku, as well as Blues defender Marcos Alonso.
However, Serie A champions Inter have turned down the bid as they want to keep their star man.
Lukaku, 28, is a colossus at the San Siro who’s been a goal machine during his time in Italy. The left-footed frontman has netted 64 times in just 95 appearanes for Inter.
The £200,000-a-week Belgian spent three years on the books at Chelsea in the earlier stages of his career, but played only 15 first team games. He’s shown he can score goals in England though.
Lukaku has 113 Premier League goals under his belt during his time at Chelsea, Everton, West Brom and Manchester United.
Lukaku not a popular choice with some Chelsea fans
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media believe the proposed offer for Lukaku was ludicrous.
He’s someone at the peak of his powers right now, but others feel an investment that large should be spent on someone younger. For instance, Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland is someone who’s been constantly linked with the club this Sumer.
It didn’t work out for Lukaku at the Bridge when he was a youngster, but he’s developed into a world-class striker in the last few years.
Here are some Blues fans though that are not impressed by the failed Lukaku bid:
