Manager 'will do everything' to try keep his club's £25m star, amid reported Chelsea interest
Borussia Dortmund manager Marco Rose has claimed he “will do everything” to ensure his club keeps Jude Bellingham, amid reported interest from Chelsea.
Bellingham, 18, is already a massive player for German heavyweights Dortmund. Also, he’s got eight senior caps for his country England, too.
The teenage midfielder scored and assisted last night for his side in the Champions League group stages against Besiktas, so his manager was keen to praise him afterwards.
Rose has made it clear he wants to keep Dortmund’s key duo Erling Braut Haaland and Bellingham moving forward.
“The two boys (Haaland and Bellingham) are currently players with us. We are happy to have them and anything else is just rumours. In the summer, we will see how it goes for both players. But I will do everything to ensure they stay. Tie them down… no idea… let’s wait and see,” Dortmund’s boss said.
These comments come at a time where Bellingham has recently been linked with Chelsea. According to Eurosport this month, the Blues are currently keeping tabs on the 18-year-old as a potential midfield target.
Bellingham moved to Dortmund for £25million in July 2020 and his meteoric rise now means he’s one of the best young players across Europe.
He’s still under contract at the Signal Iduna Park stadium until 2025, but is a young hot property that would be a great signing for any club.
Bellingham would be amazing Chelsea signing
Right now is a time to focus on the season rather than transfer targets. But, behind the scenes you’d still expect members of the club’s hierarchy to be watching potential future targets.
Chelsea have some exciting midfield options in their squad, as well as having promising talents out on loan. However, the London giants are a club that want to be in the mix to sign the very best.
Bellingham is a box-to-box midfield powerhouse that would surely fit the Premier League like a glove and Thomas Tuchel’s side need to push hard if any kind of deal becomes realistic.
It’s no surprise to hear Dortmund’s manager make a comment about keeping Bellingham, along with Haaland, but they’ve not always been able to keep their very best players.
