Chelsea’s first-team star is attracting interest from Premier League giants Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Chelsea squad is stacked with so many talented young players right now, so let’s hope the club can keep this core group together for many years to come. It looks like Enzo Maresca, the Blues manager, is the right man to lead them as well.

In fresh transfer rumours this week, Man City and Liverpool have been linked with a Chelsea player.

Chelsea would love to sign Man City’s Ruben Dias as a statement addition in defence. Interestingly, Pep Guardiola’s side is now looking at a potential raid on the Blues in return.

Manchester City and Liverpool keen on Chelsea defender Malo Gusto

Respected journalist Simon Phillips has claimed via Substack on Thursday morning that Man City and Liverpool are interested in signing Chelsea’s Malo Gusto.

It is explained that Man City are looking at the 21-year-old Blues star as a potential Kyle Walker successor, while Liverpool are eyeing him as a possible Trent Alexander Arnold replacement.

Phillips adds that Chelsea have “zero interest” in entertaining any offers for Gusto right now, though. In fact, the French right-back is viewed as a key part of the project at Stamford Bridge moving forward.

Thankfully, the Blues recognise Gusto as a big player for them. With Reece James struggling through injury, the all-action full-back has played 14 games across all competitions this season.

Speaking earlier this campaign, Maresca claimed Chelsea’s Gusto has been “fantastic”.

Malo Gusto must not be sold

It sounds like Chelsea have got the right idea of not even considering getting rid of Gusto.

In terms of the club’s best purchases in recent years, the £26m transfer (Sky Sports) to sign Gusto from Lyon in January 2023 ranks near the very top.

The youngster plays with maturity beyond his years, showing such consistency as a right-back that can defend and attack. On top of that, he’s proven under Maresca he’s got the qualities to invert into midfield at times.

Gusto was outstanding against Tottenham during the weekend’s 4-3 away win in the Premier League, where he came on as a half-time substitute and changed the tide in his side’s favour.

There’s no doubt he’d be an excellent addition for any giant club, including Man City and Liverpool, but he’s a Chelsea player on a long-term deal that doesn’t expire until 2030.
