Manchester City are now interested in signing Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, who’s already a transfer target for Chelsea and Liverpool.

That is according to well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Romano has explained on Twitter that Man City have entered the race for Gabri Veiga after pulling out of the transfer pursuit for West Ham’s Declan Rice.

There’s been a wave of transfer speculation regarding the future of the West Ham captain, with Arsenal now the frontrunners in the rumour mill.

As for Pep Guardiola’s side, they’re shifting their focus away from Rice on new targets.

Romano reports that Premier League champions Man City are now considering Veiga as a possible transfer target.

It is explained that Chelsea and Liverpool do like the 21-year-old La Liga star, too.

Apparently, his current release clause is worth €40million (£35million).

“Manchester City have entered the race for Spanish talent Gabri Veiga after pulling out of Declan Rice deal. He’s one of the options now being considered at the club,” Romano said.

“Liverpool and Chelsea remain interested but City also informed now.

“Release clause: €40m.”

The Express claimed earlier this month that Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has looked at Veiga as a priority signing for him this summer.

Veiga, who enjoyed a fantastic season last year, is a huge emerging talent in Spanish football.

The ‘amazing’ central midfielder scored 11 La Liga goals last season during 36 league appearances, playing a vital figure in the Celta Vigo line-up.

It’s usually a concern for rival buyers when Man City join the party, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens with Veiga.

Incidentally, he’s currently playing for Spain during the Under-21s European Championships this summer.
