Chelsea youngster Harvey Vale won’t be travelling with the first-team squad next week for the pre-season tour in the United States.

That is according to a report from The Athletic.

In fact, Harvey Vale and Omari Hutchinson are two rising stars from the Blues academy that won’t be making the final cut for Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, which is due to fly out on Monday ahead of five friendly games.

The report claims that Vale and Hutchinson, who are both aged 19, will stay to work at home in pre-season.

Apparently, the main reason the young duo have been overlooked is the fact it allows them to concentrate securing loan deals for the 2023/24 season.

It is understood the two English teenagers are trying to find temporary homes for next season to develop out on loan.

First of all, Vale is a player we agree does need some more time out on loan.

The left-footed attacking midfielder has done really well in Chelsea’s academy teams, plus he’s represented England at various age groups. However, his only time spent out on loan so far was a very quiet stint at Hull City.

We would love to watch the 19-year-old go and play regular first-team football somewhere else next season.

Described as a “very technically gifted player” by Chelsea’s Lewis Hall, Vale should be optimistic about his development moving forward if he can find the right next club.

With the lower leagues in England starting before the Premier League, it’s always preferable to get these loans sorted quickly to allow the youngsters more time to settle into a new squad environment.

As for Chelsea winger Hutchinson, he was excellent in the Blues Under-21s side last season. We feel this upcoming campaign is perfect for him to go grow and improve his game at a new club, preferably in the Championship.

The 19-year-old was very highly-rated from his time developing in the Arsenal academy, but we hope he’s a future Chelsea player in the making.

It may be disappointing to see a couple of bright talents missing in the US, but we’re looking forward to seeing which breakout stars do get the chance to really impress Pochettino. After all, it looks like a very young crop of players training at Cobham in the past two weeks.
