Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly confident that one player would be an amazing signing for his club.

Girona defender Miguel Gutierrez is on Chelsea‘s shopping list, according to El Nacional.

The same outlet has also claimed that Mauricio Pochettino thinks the 22-year-old would be a sensational signing.

Left-back has been a problem position for Chelsea this season, with both Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella both picking up bad injuries.

However, the former is fit again and has really impressed one pundit since his return.

Miguel Gutierrez on Chelsea’s shopping list

It would make sense if Chelsea really are considering making a move for Gutierrez now or in the summer.

Because of Chilwell’s injury record, Pochettino could probably do with bringing in a new left-back. Levi Colwill, a central defender, has spent most of the season playing there, while the club could sell Ian Maatsen at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has only joined Borussia Dortmund on loan but is said to have a £35m release clause in his contract.

Gutierrez is one reason why Girona are first in La Liga right now. He has been a key player for manager Michel, making 20 league appearances under him. The Spaniard has started at both left-back and left wing-back in the current campaign.

Whether Chelsea sign a new left-back could depend on Chilwell. With the transfer window closing soon, Girona will be very reluctant to part ways with Gutierrez now.

In the summer, it could be a different story. But if Chilwell does not get injured for the rest of the season and can prove his fitness, the Blues may not need to enter the market. The England international, Colwill and Cucurella will be enough, providing that the first of that trio has put his injury woes behind him.
