A large section of Chelsea supporters on social media voiced their displeasure towards the recent update about Niklas Sule.

The Athletic stated that the Blues had stepped up their interest in the Bayern Munich defender, having monitored him for some time.

Here’s how Chelsea fans responded to the news on Twitter:

Sule has been one of the names strongly associated with Chelsea’s need to sign another centre-back.

His contract with Bayern runs out next June, with no current signs of an extension being offered.

He joined the Bundesliga champions in 2017 from Hoffenheim and has since won three league titles, five domestic cups and the Champions League.

A fee of around £30m (Athletic) would be needed to prise the German international away from his homeland.

Thomas Tuchel is apparently an admirer of Sule and the pair have formed a strong relationship.

Central defence is an area that the Blues boss wants to address, along with revamping his striking options.

A lot weighs on whether Thiago Silva will agree to new deal, with Chelsea eager to tie down the 36-year-old for another term.

Meanwhile, Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are all entering into the final 12 months of their agreements.

Then there’s the case of sorting out Fikayo Tomori’s situation as he continues to enjoy life on loan with AC Milan.
