Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian has now responded to speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea.

There has been a lot of talk this week about Chelsea closing in on the signing of Estevao Willian.

According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, the Blues want to seal a deal for Estevao as soon as possible and have already agreed personal terms with the 17-year-old.

He is unlikely to come cheap, though.

Estevao is believed to have a €60m (£51.8m) release clause, which you would expect Palmeiras to demand in full.

Estevao Willian on his future

Estevao was recently asked about the Chelsea rumours.

In response, the Brazilian made it clear that his focus is on Palmeiras.

In an interview with Paramount, which was shared by Globo Esporte, Estevao said: “My mind is 100% on Palmeiras. I don’t think about that. I just think about how I can do my best on the pitch and how I can help Palmeiras.

“I try my hardest on the pitch to bring joy to the Palmeiras fans.”

Why Estevao Willian should not be thinking about Chelsea too much

It is not hard to see why Estevao would want to join Chelsea.

The Blues are one of the biggest clubs in the world and would give the Brazil youth international the chance to play in Europe and arguably the best division in football in the form of the Premier League.

However, the wide man is right to focus on Palmeiras rather than a potential move to Chelsea.

Even if Estevao does go on to sign for Mauricio Pochettino‘s side this summer, he will not be able to join them until next year when he turns 18.

Ultimately, whatever happens in the next transfer window, Estevao is still likely to be at Palmeiras, so his attention should be there, rather than on a club he cannot even play for yet.
