Napoli are interested in signing Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea this month.

Trevoh Chalobah is a player who Napoli have recently enquired about signing, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian outlet claims that the Serie A side are now waiting to see if Chelsea would be open to allowing the central defender to leave Stamford Bridge on loan.

Back in November, the Evening Standard reported that the Blues would ask for around £25m for Chalobah during this transfer window, suggesting that they want to do a permanent deal rather than a loan.

However, there is obviously nothing wrong with Napoli testing the water. The Independent also claimed that Thomas Tuchel was keen on bringing Chalobah to Bayern Munich, though that was before the Bundesliga champions landed Eric Dier.

Napoli make Trevoh Chalobah enquiry

Any club looking for a central defender right now, which Napoli seem to be doing, considering Chalobah makes a lot of sense.

First of all, he appears to be available and at a decent price. With so much competition at the back at Chelsea right now, you would also expect the 24-year-old to be open to a move.

Chalobah, of course, also has experience playing in a top division like the Premier League and at a big club.

The former England U21 international can start in different positions as well, including centre-back and right-back.

Ultimately, Chalobah is a no-brainer on loan or at £25m. Napoli should try to get some kind of deal done before the transfer window closes.

As for Chelsea, Chalobah will be a great asset to have at Stamford Bridge if they can keep hold of him. Without being able to guarantee the player opportunities, though, the club will find it hard to convince him to remain in west London. So do not rule out a move to Napoli.
