Napoli have just been linked in the transfer rumour mill with another Chelsea player this month.
Italian giants Napoli, who are managed by former Blues boss Antonio Conte, have set their sights on Chelsea during the early stages of the January transfer window.
First of all, it was claimed this week that Napoli have enquired about signing Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka. The Blues are considering loaning out Chukwuemeka, 21, in January with a buy option in any deal. The attacking midfielder’s only made five senior appearances in the first half of the season, so could he be given a fresh start in Naples?
Interestingly, there’s now fresh rumours linking the Serie A club with another individual at Stamford Bridge.

Napoli interested in Chelsea’s Renato Veiga
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported via X on Friday that Napoli are showing an interest in signing Chelsea’s Renato Veiga this month.
The versatile 21-year-old star is viewed as an important player by Blues head coach Enzo Maresca, so it’s unclear on if he’ll be allowed to leave midway through the season.
Veiga, who joined the Blues in a £12m deal (BBC) from Basel last summer, is enjoying a decent debut season in English football. The senior Portugal international has made 17 Chelsea appearances across all competitions in the first half of the campaign, providing great squad depth because of his versatility.
The 6ft 3in youngster is an extremely useful option because he’s shown he can play as a centre-half, left-back or defensive midfielder.
Portugal boss Roberto Martinez called Chelsea’s Veiga “very strong” and raved about the youngster’s incredible maturity earlier in the season.
In terms of Napoli’s interest in Veiga, Chelsea shouldn’t even entertain the idea. The young talent is proving his worth to the squad right now and will be needed as the busy season progresses.
Chelsea should put Ben Chilwell on the table
If Napoli need a left-back, Chelsea should tell them to forget Veiga and turn their attention to 28-year-old teammate Ben Chilwell.
Chelsea have told Chilwell he can leave in January, which is no surprise because he’s been frozen out by Maresca and only played one first-team match in the first half of the season.
Interestingly, Napoli were tracking Chelsea full-back Chilwell in October, so perhaps there may be a chance.
It’ll be a win-win for both Chelsea and Chilwell if they can secure him a move in this current window.
