‘No planning was done here’: Some Chelsea fans rage as 20-year-old leaves on loan

Ethan Ampadu has completed a loan move away from Stamford Bridge this evening – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter are not happy with the deal.

The Blues have confirmed on Tuesday’s deadline day that the 20-year-old has penned a new three-year contract with the club.

This news also comes with a season-long loan to Italian side Venezia.

He’s previously had loan spells with RB Leipzig, along with Sheffield United last season, but he’s now heading to Italy.

The Wales international is a versatile star that can play as a centre-back or defensive midfielder fairly comfortably and he’s made 12 first-team appearances for Chelsea.

However, he’s not in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for this campaign and will now get a taste of Serie A football.

Details of Ethan Ampadu loan frustates some Chelsea fans

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media have been left raging with the terms of Ampadu’s loan move.

It seemed unlikely that he would get an opportunity this year given the competition in the Blues squad, so another loan makes sense.

There are plenty that disagree strongly with his loan destination.

Ampadu was part of a Sheffield United side that were relegated from the Premier League last year and it looks like he may be in a relegation scrap once again.

The combative enforcer is joining a club in Venezia that have scored zero goals and conceded five in their opening two league matches.

They were promoted to Serie A for the first time in 20 years after winning in a Serie B play-off final last season, which is why staying in the top flight will be an achievement.

Many Chelsea supporters believe Ampadu deserves better.

Here are some Blues fans discussing Ampadu’s loan exit:
