'No way': Some Chelsea fans baffled over who the club have reportedly offered new contract to

Chelsea supporters on social media were left dazed by the fact Tiemoue Bakayoko had seemingly turned down a fresh contract offer.

According to Milan News, Bakayoko rejected the Blues latest proposal as he wants to join AC Milan instead.

The 26-year-old spent a season on loan with Milan in 2018, not long after he’d arrived at Stamford Bridge in a £40m (BBC Sport) move from Monaco.

His Chelsea career up to this point has spent almost entirely away from South West London.

Because of Bakayoko’s distant relationship with the club, Blues fans could not believe he had even been offered a new agreement.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:

Bakayo-go

After the Milan loan, he went back to Monaco for a term, before joining Napoli the following campaign on a part-time basis.

Bakayoko will now link-up with Thomas Tuchel’s squad ahead of the 2021/20 chapter for pre-season, where the Blues boss can get a good look at all his returning loanees.

However, the midfielder might not be around for long if he is unwilling to sign an extension.

June 2022 is when his deal is set to expire, hence the apparent clammer to elongate his stay.

This sudden urge to tie down the France international could come as a result of Tuchel’s desire to see him in the flesh.

With so many players coming back to Cobham this summer, Chelsea’s manager won’t have been afforded the time to see all of them perform.

It wasn’t too long ago since Bakayoko was ripping it up with Monaco; perhaps Tuchel still believes he can unleash that version of the Frenchman.
