Chelsea fans have been told that the chances of keeping Mason Mount at Stamford Bridge are “not looking too good” as things stand.

The England international only has 12 months remaining on his contract with the Blues.

Now – thanks to Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard – we have been given an update on Mason Mount which is likely to upset Mauricio Pochettino.

What’s the story?

Well – according to the Daily Mail – the Argentine really wants to work with Mount in west London, and views the Chelsea No.19 as someone who would be a key player under his guidance.

However – according to Kinsella – it seems highly likely that the Chelsea academy graduate will leave, in news that will surely upset Pochettino based on how he views the attacking midfielder.

The Chelsea correspondent for the Evening Standard told the London Is Blue Podcast: “The only thing that might help Mason Mount sign a contract at Chelsea is a big effort from Mauricio Pochettino and the owners, but it’s not looking too good right now.”

Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been mentioned as potential destinations for the 24-year-old.

Chelsea should look to sell Mason Mount

In our view, it would make more sense to offload Mount – who The Athletic believe Chelsea value at £70m – than it would to keep him this summer.

Of course, the Chelsea No.19 is a fantastic footballer, but the Blues must make sales this summer, and their best chance of recouping a serious amount of cash would be from his departure.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea need to sell players before June 30th in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, following a chaotic 12 months of spending under Todd Boehly.

While some may be sad to see Mount go, he is expendable – the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka can step up in his absence, for example.

Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as it seems Chelsea will be losing their Portsmouth-born academy graduate this summer.
