West Ham manager David Moyes has announced that his side have had a bid accepted from Chelsea for Kurt Zouma.
Hammers boss Moyes has said today that Chelsea have accepted an offer for the 26-year-old.
“We have had an offer accepted from Chelsea for Kurt Zouma but I could not tell you if the medical has been completed yet,” Moyes claimed on Friday afternoon.
In addition, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed moments later in his own press conference that there are talks for Zouma to complete a move to West Ham.
Tuchel added: “He’s not with us but not because of his negotiation, he is not with us for personal issues. But I won’t lie to you, he is in negotiations with West Ham.”
It looks like the centre-back is on his way across London, subject to his medical.
According to the Evening Standard earlier this week, Zouma is closing in on a £25million transfer from Chelsea to their London rivals West Ham.
Kurt Zouma leaves Chelsea an extremely popular figure
Zouma has had a rollercoaster ride during seven-and-a-half years with the Blues, so watching him leave to join a Premier League rival will be upsetting.
The powerhouse centre-half went through the turmoil of a serious injury earlier in his career, but he’s come back stronger.
If his deal is finalised, he’s leaving Chelsea with five pieces of silverware to his name. He’s won the Premier League (two), Champions League, League Cup and UEFA Super Cup with the Blues.
He looks like he will be a valuable addition to a West Ham squad that are on the rise. They have European football to offer this campaign with participation in the Europa League group stages, plus they finished sixth in the Premier League last year.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are stacked with top-class centre-halves to play in the preferred back-three system under Tuchel. It’s going to be difficult replacing a huge personality like Zouma, who is a massive joker off the pitch.
