Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea may now be about to miss out on the signing of Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga.
He took to Twitter to state that Serie A champions Napoli have recently submitted an official opening bid to try and bring him to them this summer.
Chelsea have been closely linked with Veiga this summer as a potential reinforcement to their midfield and attacking midfield roles.

It has been previously claimed that he could be seen by the club as a potential replacement for Mason Mount, who has made a high-profile switch to Manchester United.
The Blues have been keen to get rid of a lot of players they didn’t see as giving enough last season, and this has occurred with the England international as he was unwilling to sign a new contract.
The current priority in the midfield as far as transfers are concerned is getting the deal for Moises Caicedo over the line.
Chelsea could miss out on Veiga
Their interest in the Ecuador international has been public knowledge for most of the summer transfer window, and Brighton have been very clear in their stance on letting him go only if they receive a bid they feel is valid for his services.
As this is going on, Romano has claimed they now risk losing out on the addition of Veiga too as Napoli close in on bringing him in.

He said: “EXCLUSIVE: Napoli submitted official bid today for Spanish gem Gabri Veiga worth €30m fee.
“Understand Celta Vigo have rejected the proposal — as release clause is €40m. Negotiations continue — Napoli want Gabri Veiga.”
Veiga’s talents have been praised since he made his breakthrough, with former Spanish U21 coach Santi Denia describing him as ‘spectacular’.
