Chelsea have Lille star Jonathan David on their radar ahead of the January transfer window.
Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Jonathan David is one name that the Blues have ‘on the list’ going into the new year.
Chelsea did sign Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal over the summer, but it still looks like that they could sign a new centre-forward when the transfer window reopens.

David was linked with a move away from Lille before the start of the season, with journalist Ben Jacobs claiming that the French club wanted around €60m (£52m) for their talisman.
He was in fantastic form for his side last term, scoring 24 goals in 37 Ligue 1 appearances.
Jonathan David one striker on Chelsea’s list
While Phillips has reported on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that the Blues have David on their radar, the Canada international is not the only No.9 that the club are looking at.
Chelsea are also interested in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and could make a move for him next year.
Like David, the Nigeria international also had a brilliant 2022/23 campaign.

In total, he scored 31 goals in 39 appearances for the Serie A champions. Osimhen could add a lot more firepower to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Brentford’s Ivan Toney is being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, too, so it is quite clear that Chelsea are looking at strikers right now.
David, then, may have some convincing to do if he wants to join Chelsea in January or next summer. With Osimhen and Toney seemingly being targeted as well, there could be a shortlist that the 23-year-old has to climb.
All in all, the above suggests that Chelsea will sign a new striker in 2024 and it will be interesting to see which name they decide to go all out for.
