Chelsea could reportedly yet decide to target Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans in January.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has been discussing on the Chelsea365 podcast what lies ahead for the Blues in upcoming transfer windows.

He suggests that Leicester star Tielemans, 25, is “one to watch” moving forward.

Apparently, Graham Potter’s side are yet to make any “significant advances” for the £40million (BBC) midfielder, but he’s suggested as a potential Blues target.

Chelsea could target Youri Tielemans

Ben Jacobs told the Chelsea365 podcast: “If you’re going to sign [Declan] Rice in the summer, does that then shift the desire to find more of an attacking midfielder in January? The answer to that question might well be yes.

“A dark horse to keep an eye on is someone maybe like a Youri Tielemans, who Arsenal are considering on a free transfer if he doesn’t sign a new deal at Leicester in the summer of 2023. Potentially a suitor could put down a low value offer that they think is a bargain hoping that Leicester take it rather than lose the player on a free.

“Chelsea haven’t made any significant advances on this front, but that’s one to watch.”

Chelsea fans certainly know all about Tielemans, who broke their hearts back in the FA Cup final in 2021. The Leicester ace scored a memorable long-range goal to gift the Foxes a 1-0 victory over Chelsea.

Tielemans is an all-action midfielder that does bring so much quality and composure in the centre of the park.

The Belgian can definitely contribute as an attacking threat, scoring 27 goals and making 25 assists so far in his Leicester career.

Also, he’s got an exquisite range of passing and he defends aggressively without the ball.

In our view, Tielemans is definitely good enough to slot into nearly every top side across Europe. Would he fit into Graham Potter’s plans at Stamford Bridge, though?

If a bargain deal can be negotiated next month in the January window, it should be quite difficult to resist.
