Chelsea have been linked with a whole host of defenders this month. Lampard is keen on adding reinforcements in the centre and left side of the back-line to sure up a defence that has shipped a fair amount of goals this season.
The Blues have conceded 29 goals in 21 league games and have made some calamitous errors at the back. Some experience at the back would help the young Chelsea youngsters develop and Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti could be the perfect addition.

The Frenchman has fallen out of favour at the Catalan club. He is now third in the pecking order behind Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet and could seek a fresh challenge this month.
The Daily Mail has reported that Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are all interested in his services and could make a move this month. Chelsea require an experienced defender like Umtiti and should consider making a move.

The France international has made just seven appearances for Barcelona this season due to injuries and a lack of form. He is still just 26, and if he can regain the levels he has previously been at, he will be a valuable addition to any club.
Chelsea are unlikely to make an imminent move, however. The Blues are holding off on making a move for Nathan Ake until they offload Andreas Christensen. It would likely be a similar story if the club decide to make a move for the Barcelona man.
