Pedro open to Chelsea stay but admits having several offers

Chelsea winger Pedro Rodriguez says he has not made the decision on his future as he enters the final months of his Chelsea contract.

The 32-year-old has largely played as a back-up throughout this season as Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Willian have all been ahead of him in the pecking order.

Pedro has made just nine Premier League appearances this season.

However, as he showed in the Blues’ last two games against Liverpool in the FA Cup and Everton in the league, Pedro still had something to offer.

Pedro played the full 90 minutes in those games and displayed a tremendous work-rate which helped Chelsea win both clashes.

That was most notable in the home win against the Toffees, where Pedro was involved in two of the four goals Chelsea scored (one goal and one assist).

Chelsea, however, have announced the pre-transfer agreement with Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech.

The Morocco international’s arrival would mean Chelsea are likely to let go of either Willian or Pedro – or even both if they plan to sign another attacker this summer.

Pedro has opened up about a potential summer exit, although he would not make the decision before speaking to Chelsea.

He told Cadena SER: “I’m waiting for the meeting with the club – we have not yet sat down to see if I can extend.

“What I do know is that my contract ends on June 30. I will continue here until that date, and pending my meeting with the club, I am open to listening to other offers, but my priority is to finish my contract.

“I am calm, I am waiting to see what can happen between now and the end of the season. I have offers from many clubs.

“I will evaluate them. But I will not decide anything until I have spoken to the club.”

According to a report from Goal, the offers Pedro was referring to could come from four interested clubs: Roma, Real Betis, New York City FC and Inter Miami.

FIFA guidelines have suggested for players to stay in their current clubs until the respective domestic season is completed, but Pedro and Willian could yet leave Chelsea on June 30 based on their current contracts.
