Chelsea reportedly have an interest in signing Celtic’s Josip Juranovic, but it’s nothing concrete at this stage.

According to journalist Nizaar Kinsella, the Blues are keen on signing the 27-year-old defender from Scottish giants Celtic.

However, the information he’s heard is that Chelsea’s interest in the right-back is not firm at this point.

“Juranovic is a player who’s got interest from Chelsea, but there’s not been much contact. The people I’ve spoken to said it’s not concrete right now; it’s just interest. You get that quite a lot,” Nizaar Kinsella told the London is Blue podcast.

Chelsea interest in Juranovic

It’s going to be intriguing to see if Chelsea decide to ramp up interest in the Celtic star.

He had a poor return to club action in yesterday’s 2-2 draw against Rangers, with Chris Sutton describing his individual performance as “awful”.

However, it was his first game back for the Hoops after a fantastic World Cup tournament while representing Croatia.

If Graham Potter wants him at Chelsea, Juranovic is a player Chelsea should consider moving for in a stronger fashion.

It’s obvious to Chelsea fans that they’re crying out for a new signing at right-back this month, with club legend Cesar Azpilicueta really struggling to fill the void left behind by injury star Reece James.

It would be great for Chelsea to sign an adventurous right-sided defender that contributes going forward and can be heavily involved in open play.

Of course, finding a like-for-like replacement for James is going to be a tall order. However, there are offensive full-backs out there that could improve things at Stamford Bridge.
