‘Phenomenal’ Chelsea youngster set to leave on loan this summer

Chelsea have decided their 20-year-old youngster will be spending next season out on loan.

There’s no doubt that Chelsea have benefited greatly from using the loan system in recent years.

It feels like there’s a constant conveyor belt of quality coming through the Blues academy, but there’s simply not room for all of them to stay at once.

Chelsea are usually the winners in the long run when they send youngsters to develop elsewhere because it can lead to a first-team promotion or a sale for cash.

Chelsea set to loan out Harvey Vale again

According to football.london, Chelsea youngster Harvey Vale is set to leave during the transfer window.

It is understood that the versatile 20-year-old player will only exit on loan. It’s worth noting that he’s about to enter the final year of his contract, though.

The report added that there’s plenty of clubs lining up to sign the Blues talent, including sides in the English Championship. There’s foreign teams keeping an eye on the situation, too.

Vale has made five senior appearances for Chelsea in the past, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll get a look-in under Enzo Maresca this summer.

Harvey Vale is a ‘phenomenal’ talent

It was a fantastic 2023/24 campaign for Chelsea’s Vale, spending the entire year in League One with Bristol Rovers.

He played 47 matches across all competitions for Bristol Rovers, scoring three goals and making six assists. His versatility meant that he played a mixture of left-back, left wing-back and left wing.

Speaking via the Bristol Rovers YouTube channel last October when he was still the club’s manager, Joey Barton described Vale as “phenomenal” when discussing his attitude.

It would be a great step up for his development if he spends next season in the Championship.
