West Ham are now considering making a new bid to sign Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky journalist has claimed that people behind the scenes at West Ham are mulling over making a second offer for Conor Gallagher, who’s currently away on the Blues pre-season tour in the United States.

This comes after the Hammers saw Chelsea reject their opening £40million bid for the midfielder this summer.

“They’ve (West Ham) already had one bid rejected of around £40million for Conor Gallagher. We’re told that they’re discussing behind the scenes now at West Ham United whether to go back in with an improved offer for him,” Sheth said on Sky Sports, as quoted by Football Daily.

Gallagher’s played in all three pre-season games for Mauricio Pochettino’s new-look Chelsea, so you could make a strong case to suggest he’ll play an important role at Stamford Bridge in the upcoming campaign.

Pochettino recently explained he’s happy with Gallagher and that he’s in his plans moving forward (Football.London).

Therefore, we’re inclined to take the transfer exit speculation with a pinch of salt.

Gallagher’s caught the eye so far this summer and we know there’s the talent there to be an effective box-to-box midfielder.

We definitely see him aligning well with Pochettino’s style because of his high energy, ability to press, and high stamina. In fact, we doubt there are many across the Premier League that can outrun him for 90 minutes.

If Pochettino is keen to put his faith in Gallagher, Chelsea fans should support him after a quiet season last year.
