Chelsea could struggle to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in January.

According to Ben Jacobs, speaking to GiveMeSport, Arsenal want to keep hold of Aaron Ramsdale until at least the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge after losing his spot in the team to David Raya.

A report from talkSPORT recently suggested that Ramsdale could cost £50m if he is sold in 2024.

Arsenal don’t want to sell Aaron Ramsdale in January

Arsenal seem very reluctant to let Ramsdale go in the winter transfer window.

Discussing his current situation at the Emirates and his future, Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “It’s unfortunate for Ramsdale, but Arsenal still really value him for many of the qualities that he is bringing, even when he’s not playing.

“If Arsenal have their way, they would still like to keep him at least until the summer.”

Chelsea can wait until next summer to sign Aaron Ramsdale

Chelsea are not in desperate need of a new goalkeeper, so there really is no rush to sign Ramsdale.

They bought Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion in the last transfer window and he has been far from a disaster.

It was the Spaniard who made a costly mistake when Chelsea met Ramsdale’s side last month, but he has not been bad overall since joining Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

He has kept five clean sheets in all competitions this season and even won the Castrol Save of the Month award for September.

Is Sanchez the best goalkeeper in the Premier League? No. But he is certainly not bad at his job and until he actually is, Chelsea would be wise to look at other areas of their squad, such as their attack, which has not been good enough.

They have not scored enough goals, failing to find the back of the net on more than one occasion this season, including in their west London derby defeat to Brentford last week. That is what needs sorting out, not the goalkeeper position, at least not for now anyway.
