Folarin Balogun has now asked Arsenal to lower his £45m price tag after holding talks about a move to Chelsea.
That is according to Ben Jacobs.
So, what is the latest on Chelsea target Folarin Balogun? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to Football Transfers – Chelsea have held talks about signing the United States international this summer.
Balogun has worked his way onto Chelsea’s radar after impressively scoring 22 goals on loan at Reims last season.
As a result of the American’s fine efforts, Arsenal have slapped a £45m asking price on his head, a sum he now wants lowered.

Jacobs – a respected journalist for CBS Sports – wrote on Twitter: “Folarin Balogun has asked Arsenal to drop their asking price. He’s already said he won’t go out on loan. Inter felt £45m was too high and have now bid for West Ham’s Gianluca Scamacca. They haven’t entirely ruled out signing Balogun, though.”
A story from The Athletic added that the 22-year-old is training alone at Arsenal, where he doesn’t appear to have a future as he targets regular first-team football next season.
Chelsea may only sign Balogun if Vlahovic deal collapses
By the sounds of it, Dusan Vlahovic is the most likely arrival for Chelsea in terms of a new striker being signed.
Fabrizio Romano believes Chelsea are currently in talks with Juventus about a player-plus-cash deal for the Serbia international, involving Romelu Lukaku as well.

However, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has warned that Vlahovic may not be in a position to pass a medical right now, so the deal could collapse even if an agreement is found between Chelsea and Juventus.
If it does indeed collapse, then perhaps Chelsea will make a genuine push for Balogun, who seems keen to leave Arsenal to be the main man elsewhere.
