Matheus Franca is now keen to leave Flamengo for Chelsea after the Blues began to explore a deal for the Brazilian wonderkid.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.
So, what is the latest on Matheus Franca? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, it was the Daily Mail who initially broke the story about Chelsea’s interest in the 19-year-old.
Now, Romano has provided further details on YouTube.
The reliable Italian journalist said: “We can confirm Chelsea have an interest in Matheus Franca, one of the best talents in Brazil, born in 2004. After signing Angelo Gabriel from Santos… Chelsea want to do the same with Franca.
“Chelsea will have direct contact (with Flamengo) this week. Flamengo want around €25m (£21m). Chelsea will offer something around €20m (£17m). The add-on structure could be important. Keep an eye on Franca, who is keen on the move to Chelsea.”

The teenager – who South American football expert Tim Vickery said is “strong on the ball” on Sky Sports – is also attracting interest from Newcastle, Crystal Palace and West Ham, so the Blues have a bit of competition for his signature.
Nevertheless, it is hugely positive to hear that Franca is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, despite the fact Chelsea cannot offer him European football next season – something West Ham and Newcastle can.
Thiago Silva has a significant role as Chelsea pursue Matheus Franca
In our view, Thiago Silva has a huge role to play at Stamford Bridge next season – even if Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t use him regularly.
Chelsea are set to welcome two Brazilian wonderkids to Cobham this summer in Angelo and Andrey Santos, with Franca also likely to sign, and given their lack of experience, they will need help settling in.

Silva – one of the greatest Brazilian players of the last decade, and arguably in history – is a popular figure amongst youngsters in his homeland. The Times even believe Chelsea used him to try and sign Endrick from Palmeiras.
Therefore, his leadership qualities will be vital in helping Chelsea’s young talent, not only the South American gems, settle down in west London.
