Chelsea’s defender may reportedly receive some late interest in this summer transfer window.
We’re now into the final two days of a frantic summer window, which closes on Friday night at 11pm. So, how many more deals will Chelsea conclude, whether that’s incomings or outgoings?
There’s definitely several Blues players that could do with exits this week, especially members of the loan group that are training separately from the senior squad. Remarkably, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed yesterday that the first-team exiles will not get minutes under him if they stay at the club beyond the summer deadline, as quoted by The Athletic.
Trevoh Chalobah, 25, is one of the high-profile names currently frozen out of the picture at Stamford Bridge this summer. He’s running out of time if he wants to be playing senior football in the first half of this season.
Journalist Simon Phillips claimed via Substack earlier this week that Chelsea are annoyed with Chalobah after intense negotiations. Apparently, the Blues centre-back has recently rejected approaches from Nottingham Forest, Atalanta, and Crystal Palace as the club seek to get him a transfer move.

Crystal Palace to make one final attempt for Trevoh Chalobah
Journalist Simon Phillips has now claimed via Substack on Thursday morning that Palace could make one last attempt to sign Chelsea’s Chalobah in these final two days of the summer window.
It is explained that the Eagles could make a fresh move for the 25-year-old Englishman because they’re in a defensive crisis.
Phillips states that Oliver Glasner’s Palace side have been offering a low amount for Chalobah, so they’ll need to increase their bid in order to agree a deal with Chelsea.
What should Trevoh Chalobah do?
Even if Chalobah’s not blown away by the idea of joining Palace, it’s got to be better than sitting around on the fringes at Chelsea for the rest of 2024.
He’s proven during his Blues career he’s a quality Premier League defender who’s capable of excelling at this level. In fact, he may even have been Chelsea’s most consistent centre-half during the final weeks of last season.
Described as “fantastic” by Frank Lampard last year via Football.London, Chalobah would be an excellent addition to the Palace squad at Selhurst Park.
Let’s hope that Chalobah finds a new home in the next 48 hours because it’ll be a huge shame if his career hits a temporary standstill.
