One of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals are starting to look really desperate for one of their players.
Journalist Dean Jones recently hinted that Tottenham Hotspur could make a £35m offer for Conor Gallagher in the summer.
However, Ben Jacobs has now suggested to GiveMeSport that Tottenham may be willing to go up to £50m for the midfielder.
With Gallagher’s contract running down, you would expect some kind of bid from Spurs in the next transfer window if he does not renew his deal.
The 24-year-old will be a free agent in 2025 as things stand, so Chelsea may have to listen to offers in the summer to avoid the risk of losing him for nothing.
Tottenham may decide £50m is a fair valuation for Conor Gallagher
With the form that he is in right now, Jacobs thinks Tottenham may come to the conclusion that Gallagher is actually worth £50m.
“I’m sure that Chelsea will point towards Mason Mount and say, he had a year left on his contract, and was a £60m total package to Manchester United, and Gallagher is in better form,” the journalist said. “So they may hold out for that £55m to £60m valuation. But I think that Tottenham feel that by the time the summer comes, if Gallagher has not signed a new deal, he may be available for close to £45m to £50m.
“Whereas last summer, they thought that that was £5m or £10m too much. This coming summer, they may believe that’s pretty decent value given Gallagher’s form.”

Will Tottenham make £50m move for Conor Gallagher?
It is still hard to imagine a club like Tottenham paying £50m for a midfielder whose contract is about to expire.
Spurs do not usually spend crazy money on one individual, let alone on one who they could potentially pick up for free next summer.
Given their interest and his contract situation, you simply cannot rule out Tottenham going after Gallagher at the end of the season. However, it would be a surprise if they were willing to spend £50m on him as he approaches the final year of his deal.
Gallagher seems to have many fans in the game, with England manager Gareth Southgate describing his pressing as “fantastic” just before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
