Chelsea are reportedly growing closer to signing Monaco youngster Benoit Badiashile.

Badiashile, 21, is an exciting young defender that’s been strongly linked recently with a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Foot Mercato reported over Christmas that Chelsea have already submitted a bid a €40million offer (roughly £35.5million) to sign the Monaco defender.

He’s a left-footed centre-back that’s a key player for Ligue 1 club Monaco. The rising French talent has two senior international caps, too.

Chelsea closer to signing Badiashile

Journalist Ben Jacobs has provided a fresh update this week regarding Chelsea’s interest in Badiashile.

He explains that the Blues are moving swiftly with their pursuit to bring the centre-half to west London, with personal terms already agreed with the individual.

Jacobs wrote on Twitter: “Chelsea are progressing fast on a deal for Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile. Personal terms have already been agreed with the French defender. Chelsea impressed by Badiashile’s calmness on the ball, aggression and imposing aerial qualities.”

If you look at Graham Potter’s current squad, you can understand why Chelsea are acting fast to bring in an extra centre-back recruit.

Wesley Fofana has been cursed with injuries during his first season with the Blues. Meanwhile, classy defender Thiago Silva is 38.

There’s definitely room for an emerging centre-half to compete for a spot in this side alongside Trevoh Chalobah and Kalidou Koulibaly.
